As an academician, I was also been appointed as Academic Advisor to a group of students, usually in the same cohort. The role of academic advisor is basically to help in monitoring students’ academic progress and assisting students in selecting, changing, or registering subject courses. Apart from that, the advisor should also offers an advice and guide the students to understand the curriculum, the purpose of their academic program, and even encourages problem-solving critical thinking and decision making. Regularly, I will held a casual meeting with them to share and keep them motivated to coop with their learning and give support when needed.
