OUTBOUND MOBILITY TO PALEMBANG-UNSRI (1-2022/2023)


Embarking on an outbound mobility program is an exciting opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and experience a new culture while pursuing their academic goals while studying at FKEKK, (currently known as FTKEK) Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). In this blog post, we will highlight the outbound mobility program to Palembang, Indonesia, in collaboration with Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI). Let’s take a closer look at the students who participated and some of their activities during this enriching experience.

Participants:

  1. Muhamad Haikal Asyraf – Bachelor of Computer Engineering with Honours
  2. Afiq Danial – Bachelor of Computer Engineering with Honours
  3. Antony Bin Sumardi – Bachelor of Electronic Engineering with Honours

Program Coordinator:  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wira Hidayat bin Mohd Saad

Supervisor and accompanying Lecturer:  Assoc. Prof Dr Ridzuan Ahmad

Program Details:

  • Implementation Period: Semester 1-2022/2023 (October 3, 2022 – March 8, 2023)
  • Physical Component: February 15, 2023 – March 1, 2023
  • Location: Palembang, Indonesia

Activities:

  1. Pre-Departure Preparation:
    • Briefing sessions on program details, cultural sensitivities, and logistics.
    • Completion of necessary paperwork, including passport and visa applications.
  2. Academic Collaboration:
    • Collaborative FYP project work with UNSRI students.
    • Regular meetings and discussions to exchange ideas and monitor project progress.
    • Presentation of project outcomes and findings.
  3. Cultural Exchange:
    • Participation in cultural activities organized by UNSRI.
    • Visits to local landmarks and cultural events.
    • Interaction with UNSRI students to experience the local culture.
  4. Lab Visits:
    • Visits to engineering research laboratories to gain exposure and discuss potential collaboration.
  5. Finalization of Project Deliverables:
    • Completion of collaborative FYP engineering projects.
    • Documentation of project outcomes and preparation of final reports.


The outbound mobility program to Palembang, Indonesia, in collaboration with UNSRI, provided an invaluable opportunity for all students and supervisor to expand their academic and cultural perspectives. Engaging in collaborative projects, cultural activities, and lab visits allowed them to enhance their engineering knowledge, develop cross-cultural communication skills, and build lasting connections with UNSRI students. This outbound mobility experience will undoubtedly contribute to their personal and professional growth.
